Celestial Lodge – Bro Arthur R Lovelace

We are sad to report with great sadness that West Gate Lodge #128 has lost a dear brother. John was a Life Member to our Lodge.

– Initiated as an Entered Apprentice Mason on February 18, 1987,
– Passed as a Fellowcraft Mason on March 31, 1987 and was
– Raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on April 29, 1987.

Art R. Lovelace, age 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep Christmas morning, December 25, 2018, at his home in Fort Mohave, Arizona.. He was born January 10, 1928 in Portland Oregon and was one of eight children, including a twin sister.

As a child, he moved to Washington State where he lived until he served his country for six years in World War II and the Korean War. In 1950 he married Lou Good of Fir Island, raising their family in Mt. Vernon and Bellevue, Washington. They divorced in 1974. He retired to Fort Mohave in 1999 with his companion, Donna Campbell. They married in 2004.

Art was a Veteran of The Greatest Generation. He was a member and Past Commander of the American Legion, a Shriner and Mason, and belonged to the Cement Mason’s Union. He was a private pilot and Certified Flight Instructor who owned his own airplane. He loved to fly and did so until he was 75 years. old. He marshaled at the old Emerald Hills Golf Course in Laughlin, Nevada. and was an avid golfer until he turned 85, when he still went out in the golf cart riding around Needles Golf Course with friends and relatives.

Among the many highlights of his life was serving as Marshal & Security at the PGA at Pebble Beach in Carmel, Ca. for three years, and in 2015 he was accompanied by his daughter to Washington, DC as an honored guest Veteran through Nevada’s Honor Flight program.

Art was preceded in death by his oldest son, Rick Sjogren.

He is survived by his loving companion and wife of 31 years, Donna Lovelace. He also leaves behind his devoted children, daughter, Kathleen (Ken) Bacon of Ft. Mohave, son, James (Kimberly) Lovelace of Newcastle, Wa., daughter, Jana Balliet of Mt. Vernon, WA., daughter, Tracy (Richard) Euteneier of Port Orchard, Wa., and daughter-in-law, Colleen Sjogren of Yakima, Wa.: ten loving grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Don (Joyce) Shogren of Lk. Stevens, Wa., brother, Richard (Margaret) Soth of Snohomish, Wa.; a host of nieces and nephews, greats, and great-greats as well as many precious friends.

To say he will be missed is an enormous understatement.

He was a beloved member of his Los Lagos community and Mohave Valley United Methodist Church.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday January 12, 2019 at Mohave Valley United Methodist, 1593 Lipan Blvd., Ft. Mohave, directly followed by a Celebration of Life at Los Lagos Clubhouse, 6102 Lago Grande Dr., Ft. Mohave. Remembrance donations can be made to the Humane Society or Nevada Honor Flight.
