Celestial Lodge – Bro John W Sheaffer

We are sad to report with great sadness that West Gate Lodge #128 has lost a dear brother. John was a Life Member to our Lodge.


– Initiated as an Entered Apprentice Mason on November 11, 1988.
– Passed as a Fellowcraft Mason on January 2, 1989 and was
– Raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason February 25, 1989.

John William Sheaffer passed away Friday, December 7, 2018 at the age of 86.

John was born on August 20, 1932, in Junction City, Kansas, the son on Milton Sheaffer and Dorothy Weaver Sheaffer. He was raised in Kansas and other places they were sent by the military. He graduated from Junction City High School and attended Kansas State University.

He owned and managed men’s clothing stores in Abilene and Manhattan, Kansas. In 1981 he moved to Seattle, Washington, where he formed a nutritional supplement company, wholesaling to health food stores across the country.

John was an accomplished musician. He played in bands across Kansas and led his own jazz combo, which played dances at places such as the Officer’s Club and the NCO club at Ft. Riley. In Washington he was a member of the West Gate 128 Masonic lodge in Bellevue and the Nile Shrine Temple in Seattle.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; two daughters, Melania Hampe of Lime Springs, Iowa and Amy Brailsford of Duvall, Washington; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
